How it moves

It arrives on verbena, thyme, black pepper, grapefruit, bergamot and elemi — bright, immediate, gone before you have decided about it. Then the heart turns up — damask rose, white flowers, benzoin, cloves and nutmeg — and the whole thing slows down. Last to go: oakmoss, vetiver, labdanum, amber and sandalwood.
