Volutes
Pipe tobacco in a warm room, then pepper. Diptyque Volutes has a sense of occasion.

How it moves
It arrives on saffron, pepper and iris — bright, immediate, gone before you have decided about it. Underneath, tobacco leaf, honey and hay settle in and take over. It dries down to myrrh, opoponax, benzoin and styrax, close to the skin and hard to forget.
Who made it
Fabrice Pellegrin composed it in 2012, for Diptyque in France. Named for the curls of smoke in a transatlantic liner's smoking lounge, a honeyed tobacco and iris composition.
