It starts on bergamot. It ends, hours later, on tonka bean. Houbigant Ambre des Abysses is everything that happens in between.

How it moves

The first breath is bergamot, mint and orange blossom, and it is loud about it. Then the heart turns up — patchouli, geranium, jasmine, rosemary and amber — and the whole thing slows down. The base is oakmoss, leather, vanilla and tonka bean. That is the bit on your scarf the next morning.
