How it moves

It arrives on black pepper and cardamom — bright, immediate, gone before you have decided about it. Then the heart turns up — shiso, mate, fennel and pimento — and the whole thing slows down. It dries down to saffron, white oud, tobacco, nutmeg and castoreum, close to the skin and hard to forget.
