It arrives on bergamot, mandarin orange, lemon and myrtle — bright, immediate, gone before you have decided about it. Then the heart turns up — neroli, lavender, jasmine, rosemary and pittosporum — and the whole thing slows down. Last to go: amber, ambrette and angelica.
