Alberto Morillas put pomegranate at the front of Versace Bright Crystal and built everything else to hold it there.
How it moves
Pomegranate, yuzu and ice notes hit first, the way an opening line should. Then the heart turns up — peony, magnolia and lotus — and the whole thing slows down. What is left hours later is amber, musk and mahogany, and that is the part people follow you for.
Who made it
Alberto Morillas composed it in 2006, for Versace in Italy. Morillas's pomegranate-and-peony floral became one of Versace's biggest commercial successes and a mall-counter staple.
