The FragDNA review

Tygar's grapefruit and ambroxan, for under $40

FragDNA editors · the consensus of 3 reviewers and wearer threads · 21 October 2026

Opening
A punchy grapefruit-citrus blast — less silky than Tygar.
Dry-down
Ambroxan and musk, a touch rougher; the ginger heart of Tygar is mostly missing.
Longevity
Moderate — anywhere from a few hours to six or seven.
Projection
Excellent for two to three hours, then average.
Best for
Summer, the gym, fresh-fragrance fans who can't justify Bulgari prices.

Bulgari's Tygar is one of the most expensive fresh fragrances in the world; Turathi Blue gives you the same blueprint — grapefruit, ambroxan, musk — for a small fraction of it.

In the air, most people can't tell. Up close, reviewers notice the opening is less silky, the ginger that animates Tygar's heart is largely absent, and the finish is a little rougher. One owner put it at around 95%; most land a little lower.

It projects hard early, so a few sprays go a long way.

The verdictAbout 85% of Tygar — the same bright, ambroxan freshness, rougher around the edges.

What it's built to smell like

Bvlgari Tygar is grapefruit and bergamot at first, cardamom and ginger at its heart and ambrox, sandalwood and musk at the end. Afnan set out to put that same arc in a cheaper bottle.
