Matière Noire
Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed Louis Vuitton Matière Noire around patchouli, and it shows the longer you wear it.

How it moves
Blackcurrant syrup and watery notes hit first, the way an opening line should. By the half hour it has become rose, cyclamen, narcissus and jasmine sambac. By evening it is agarwood (oud), benzoin, incense and patchouli, and it is better for it.
Who made it
Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed it in 2016, for Louis Vuitton in France. Part of the seven-strong 2016 relaunch, Matière Noire was Cavallier Belletrud's darkest opening statement, built on Laotian agarwood with a narcissus absolute rarely used at this concentration.
