The FragDNA Dupe Index 2026

Every year more perfumes are made to smell like other perfumes. We count them. The FragDNA Dupe Index is the count: 10,770 known dupes from 193 dupe houses, matched to the originals they copy, with what each one costs. These are the numbers, as of 1 November 2026.

The ten most-copied perfumes

Creed Aventus leads by a distance, with 127 known dupes. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 is second with 72. The full ranking, for every original we track, is in the dupe database.

What a dupe saves you

We compared 162 originals with their cheapest in-stock dupe, both measured per 100 ml so a small bottle never looks cheap by accident. The typical original costs $379 per 100 ml. Its cheapest dupe costs $28. That is a typical saving of 92%. (Typical means the median: half save more, half save less. Why per 100 ml.)

How we count

A dupe is counted only when the shop selling it says which original it is inspired by. We never pair perfumes by their notes, their names or a guess. Prices are read from the shop and checked daily; a price that makes no sense is left out rather than shown as a bargain. Full method: how matching works.
