How it moves
You meet star anise, pepper, bay leaf and mandarin orange at the door. Cinnamon, cedar, galanga and myrrh are where it actually lives. It dries down to vanilla, Tonka Bean, patchouli, amber and benzoin, close to the skin and hard to forget.
Who made it
Jacques Cavallier composed it in 1995, for Yves Saint Laurent in France. Cavallier's masculine take on Opium, a warm anise-vanilla-pepper oriental that has become a discontinued cult favourite.
