N°22
Ernest Beaux put aldehydes at the front of Chanel N°22 and built everything else to hold it there.

How it moves
Up top: aldehydes, ylang-ylang and neroli. Enjoy them; they will not stay. The middle belongs to jasmine, rose, lily of the valley and tuberose. Last to go: incense, vetiver, vanilla, musk and opoponax.
Who made it
Ernest Beaux composed it in 1922, for Chanel in France. Beaux's follow-up to No 5, pushing the aldehydes and white flowers even further into luminous, incense-tinged territory.
