N°5
It starts on aldehydes. It ends, hours later, on amber. Chanel N°5 is everything that happens in between.

How it moves
The first breath is aldehydes, ylang-ylang, neroli and bergamot, and it is loud about it. Jasmine, rose, lily of the valley and iris are where it actually lives. The base is sandalwood, vetiver, vanilla, musk and amber. That is the bit on your scarf the next morning.
Who made it
Ernest Beaux composed it in 1921, for Chanel in France. Created by Ernest Beaux for Gabrielle Chanel in 1921, it was the first perfume built on a bold aldehyde overdose and remains the most famous fragrance ever made.
