Thierry Wasser put bergamot at the front of Guerlain Encens Mythique and built everything else to hold it there.
How it moves
The first breath is bergamot, pink pepper and aldehydes, and it is loud about it. Then the heart turns up — incense, rose and iris — and the whole thing slows down. Last to go: leather, amber, musk and patchouli.
Who made it
Thierry Wasser composed it in 2015, for Guerlain in France. Originally Encens Mythique d'Orient, this Les Absolus d'Orient entry pairs frankincense with rose and a soft leather-amber base.
