Samsara
Old wood warmed by the sun, then lemon. Guerlain Samsara has a sense of occasion.

How it moves
Bergamot, lemon, ylang-ylang and peach hit first, the way an opening line should. Then the heart turns up — jasmine, narcissus, iris, violet and rose — and the whole thing slows down. Last to go: sandalwood, vanilla, Tonka Bean, amber and musk.
Who made it
Jean-Paul Guerlain composed it in 1989, for Guerlain in France. Jean-Paul Guerlain built Samsara around an unprecedented overdose of Mysore sandalwood and jasmine, creating the defining sandalwood-floral of the late 1980s.
