Gérald Ghislain put cardamom at the front of Histoires de Parfums This Is Not A Blue Bottle 1.1 and built everything else to hold it there.
How it moves
The first breath is cardamom, pink pepper and bergamot, and it is loud about it. Underneath, incense, iris and geranium settle in and take over. What is left hours later is vetiver, sandalwood, musk and amber, and that is the part people follow you for.
Who made it
Gérald Ghislain composed it in 2017, for Histoires de Parfums in France. A Magritte-referencing conceptual line, this first entry built on cardamom, incense and vetiver in an intentionally abstract structure. It became one of the house's biggest modern successes.
