How it moves
Pear, cardamom and lavender hit first, the way an opening line should. Then the heart turns up — iris, leather and vanilla — and the whole thing slows down. By evening it is patchouli, black vanilla, leather and cedar, and it is better for it.
Who made it
Olivier Cresp composed it in 2017, for Givenchy in France. Olivier Cresp's 2017 revival of the Gentleman name replaced the patchouli chypre with an iris-pear-leather structure aimed at a modern audience.
