How it moves
Ginger, cardamom, pepper and clove hit first, the way an opening line should. The middle belongs to dates, candied fruits, rose and cinnamon. What is left hours later is incense, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and musk, and that is the part people follow you for.
Who made it
Marc-Antoine Corticchiato composed it in 2006, for Parfum d'Empire in France. Named for Pierre Loti's Ottoman novel, a dense oriental of dates, ginger and candied fruit over incense. One of the house's most opulent compositions.
