Arabie
Serge Lutens Arabie begins with mandarin and bay leaf, and does not apologise for either.

How it moves
Mandarin, bay leaf and clove hit first, the way an opening line should. Dried fig, date, candied fruits and cumin are where it actually lives. It dries down to labdanum, myrrh, benzoin and cedar, close to the skin and hard to forget.
Who made it
Christopher Sheldrake composed it in 2000, for Serge Lutens in France. A dense souk of dried fruit, resins and spice that reads like a spice merchant's storeroom. One of the densest compositions in the bell-jar line.
