Sa Majesté la Rose
It starts on rose. It ends, hours later, on vanilla. Serge Lutens Sa Majesté la Rose is everything that happens in between.

How it moves
The first breath is rose, and it is loud about it. By the half hour it has become rose, honey and clove. Last to go: musk, cedar, guaiac wood and vanilla.
Who made it
Christopher Sheldrake composed it in 2000, for Serge Lutens in France. A deliberately transparent Bulgarian rose soliflore, honeyed and clean where most Lutens work is dense. Its title translates as Her Majesty the Rose.
