L'Orpheline
Serge Lutens L'Orpheline smells like the inside of a handbag, with incense laid over the top.

How it moves
Up top: incense and pink pepper. Enjoy them; they will not stay. Musk, patchouli and styrax are where it actually lives. Last to go: musk, amber, benzoin and sandalwood.
Who made it
Christopher Sheldrake composed it in 2014, for Serge Lutens in France. A grey musk-and-incense composition Lutens framed as an orphan, belonging to no family. It marked a shift toward the house's more abstract late period.
