Serge Noire
Christopher Sheldrake put clove at the front of Serge Lutens Serge Noire and built everything else to hold it there.

How it moves
The first breath is clove, cinnamon and camphor, and it is loud about it. Then the heart turns up — incense, patchouli and styrax — and the whole thing slows down. What is left hours later is amber, musk, cedar and benzoin, and that is the part people follow you for.
Who made it
Christopher Sheldrake composed it in 2008, for Serge Lutens in France. A dense incense-and-clove composition Lutens described as his self-portrait in black. Divisive even among devotees for its medicinal camphor edge.
