How it moves

You meet rose at the door. Then the heart turns up — sandalwood and cocoa — and the whole thing slows down. It dries down to sandalwood, musk and vanilla, close to the skin and hard to forget.

Who made it

Christopher Sheldrake composed it in 2012, for Serge Lutens in France. Sandalwood folded into rose and cocoa, a deliberately edible reading of a note usually treated as austere. It was the house's most accessible woody launch of the decade.
