Vitriol d'Oeillet
It starts on black pepper. It ends, hours later, on wood notes. Serge Lutens Vitriol d'Oeillet is everything that happens in between.

How it moves
The first breath is black pepper, pink pepper and cayenne, and it is loud about it. Then the heart turns up — carnation, clove, lily and ylang-ylang — and the whole thing slows down. Last to go: nutmeg, musk and wood notes.
Who made it
Christopher Sheldrake composed it in 2011, for Serge Lutens in France. A carnation composition sharpened with black and pink pepper until it stings, its name meaning vitriol of carnation. A rare modern take on a near-extinct genre.
